Much has changed since I was in this small library many years ago, and
there is an old-fashioned cozy little setup they have in the corner with a
self-serve station for hot beverages, and interesting reads which are rotated
or completely changed daily to stimulate people to read new things they may not
have before. They have old fashioned book shelves, wooden cabinets, places to
sit or relax, coffee tables filled with some antiques and older books to add to
their interesting stack of reads they’ve chosen, as well as the daily papers
and recent magazines. If people want to donate money as a thank-you they have
nifty little jar for coins to be put in for each cup you drink. I had an opportunity
to be there with my dear friend I take care of Melanie (she works there a few
times a week) while she worked because her day-worker is off, so I observed her
and relaxed in the little nook they have.
To me, this was such a treasure to find.
Also, I didn’t need to pay for a membership because I have one in a major
city, and they just gave me a new card that is now connected to my present one;
so wherever I go other libraries see how I am staying connected. The cool thing
with the card they gave me (I didn’t know libraries started doing this) it has
empty spaces specifically for more numbers so that whenever I go to any library
in other provinces I can get a free membership with them and they keep adding
memberships to the cards to allow me to rent from them. Not that I would be
able to jump across the country to keep adding new memberships, it is still a
neat thing they are doing with them.
To end our time there, we sat with cups of teas in these fancy gorgeous
blue cups and with some books we investigated.
It was so lovely!
